Description

Tobi Steamer is designed to wipe out wrinkles just like the professional machines in the dry cleaning and fashion industry. From casual wear to fine clothes, the Tobi is safe on all fabrics and gets the job done up to five times faster than ironing. Tobi also removes wrinkles and unpleasant odors from all your household fabrics quickly and easily. Tobi's professional steam power penetrates right through the fabric. As it releases the wrinkles, it also helps to break down and remove unpleasant odors leaving your cloths fresh and ready to wear. Throw away your ironing board for good! To steam away wrinkles in seconds, just hang the garment on a regular hanger. No board or flat surface required! The heat and moisture get rid of wrinkles in seconds. Turn the lighted switch to ON. You apply no pressure. Just touch the garment lightly, and move the nozzle up and down. It's easy - even fun! TOBI lets you steam wrinkles out of your clothes at home, just like professional dry cleaners do in their stores saving time and money.

1Bad engineering = Bad (dangerous) product  Apr 17, 2008 By Casey L. Cox
I got my robi in the mail yesterday and decided to try it out on 3 pairs of dress shirts and slacks. It took me 30 minutes to get 1 of my shirts to the level of acceptable (but not iron quality). I understand that it will never be iron quality, but this product is a hazard.

*The stand is clumsy and un-balanced
*The steamer does not work on creased wrinkles
*The hose has to be completely uncoiled for the steam to come out
*The unit leaks if you open the water release valve for full steam
*The unit might-as-well not even have wheels on it, cause they don't help - I ended up just using the shoulder strap.

This product is a piece of you know what. I wouldn't have it any where near children or pets. I am sending it back today, but I do get to keep the travel steamer, which is good to have regardless of how fast it works. I hope Dyson finds a reason to engineer one of these.

Casey

1Do not buy this item  Jan 15, 2008 By Adrienne "always looking to grow"
this product is cheap plastic. it falls over and is a safety hazard as you could get burned-do not waste your money as it takes as much time as an iron to get the wrinkles out.

1Brand new and no steam at all  Jan 17, 2008 By Bo "bo"
I was thrilled when I bought the Tobi. However, after I bought it and turned it on for serveral times, it didn't work. The tank and lower part of the hose got very hot. However, there was no steam and it smelled the first time I turned it on. I think it is a defective one.

1NOT impressed! The IRON stills wins this contest!!  May 26, 2008 By E. Pfanner "queenofadventure"
I think the real reason why no one has invented something that works better than the IRON is that there IS nothing that works better! I bought the Tobi after watching the info-mercial several times. Like everyone else who bought one with dreams of making the wrinkles disappear with a wave of a wand...it must be the magic of TV because the product does not work the way they show that it does! I bought it to use on my new wardrobe which is going to require a lot of ironing.

The first time I used it was on some very thin sheers hanging in my den. Guess what - they are still wrinkled! SOME of the wrinkles came out, but the would look perfect if I had used my REAL iron. The steamer was HOT (the whole tubing part and the part that steams) the water leaked out on my carpet in puddles while I was using it. It tipped over twice the shoulder strap doesn't adjust very easily - I never was able to actually put it on my shoulder. The only bonus to this product was that it heated up very quickly - less then 1 minute and you don't have to take items off hangers or rods to steam them. But given the less than perfect results, you are better off to save your money and keep using the regular iron - they have evolved from your grandmothers iron - they are NOT that time consuming if you think about it - and they certainly are not this expensive, messy, or dangerous (burn risk) as the Tobi. My recommendation is to stick with what works - and if you're smart (like I wish I had been) you'll read the reviews BEFORE you order it and save yourself the hassle. It wasn't worth the shipping!!!!

4NOT BAD  Feb 06, 2008 By Crisis Doc
Had this for a week and it works pretty well. It starts up quickly (<1 minute which if you read the info on others is good since it can take up to 5 minutes). I hang dry my shirts on hangers so this makes ironing seamless. I agree that you still need an iron if you want perfect creases but for everyday its great. An added bonus I found was that I could use it to stretch my thin merino wool sweaters that shrank after they were hand washed; it even thinned them back into shape. Pretty good.
