"Dachshund" German for "little pain in the ass" Mar 30, 2011
By Leslie A. Green I give this bowl 5 stars. I'm here to buy another one. My Annie can eat a bowl of food in 20 seconds and then burps it up all day. I tried changing to different foods and different bowls but nothing worked until I bought this bowl. She used to hook her bottom jaw around the food in a little bowl and scoop it in! She has to slow down and eat around the heart-shaped prongs now - the burping has definitely gotten better. If I could just get her to stop almost taking my finger off....

Good Solution Dec 30, 2010
By Jennifer Peterson I'm pleased with this purchase. My dog, a 45lb Border Collie mix who was a stray before we took him in, eats his food very rapidly. It usually takes him less than 30 seconds to eat a cup of food. For those of use with deep-chested breeds, GDV (stomach flip) is a concern, especially with dogs who gulp their food.
This product worked as advertised -- it slowed down my dog significantly. I gave the item 4 out of 5 stars because my dog has begun to adapt to the shape of the bowl in the last three months; he can now chow down within a minute, as opposed to the 3-5 it took him when we first got the bowl. I'm assuming that eventually he'll be back to 30 second meals.
The bowl is a good solution for fast eaters, but it's not a perfect solution. If your dog gulps food, this bowl will help, but it may be important to use other methods as well to prevent GDV.
I'm also giving the bowl 4 stars instead of 5 because the black rubber on the bottom edges of the bowl fell off soon after purchase. Underneath was a sticky, gluey substance that took a lot of elbow grease to wash off.

NOT FOR CATS!!! Feb 23, 2012
By the atomic artist I bought this item since it said for dogs or cats. NOT TRUE!!! Well, unless you have a cat that eats like Garfield or is a Tiger or Lion. This bowl is about 8.75" in diameter & is 2.5" tall. Which is WAY too big for a regular sized house cat. Looks cute but it's worthless to me so I'm having to go through the hassle of returning it. I wish the vendor would have put the measurements on here before I bought it.
Be aware***Larger than advertised*** May 23, 2012
By What do I care anyway? This bowl is misleading... larger than advertised @ least by a couple inches all the way around. It will not work for a cat or small dog and I had to return it. The return process via Amazon.com was a breeze, they returned my money and let me keep the bowl which was nice, ended up giving it to a couple with a Pitbull. If you have a large dog this will work fine and is a great bowl for slowin' them down;)
Worked for Two Dogs May 16, 2012

"Singin' All the Time"
One of my dogs was adopted from the shelter, where they had found her as a stray. She was a dog who was cared for by her family, but somehow got separated from them after getting spayed by a vet. Being suddenly out on the street, she had to find food on her own. This made her a very fast and nervous eater.
I was using a flat casserole dish, which helped a lot because she cannot scoop mouthfuls of food as easily. When I received the bowl, I read on the side it is for dogs from 60 to 90 lbs. She is only 45 lbs, so I used the bowl for my 75 lb dog instead. He eats a bit fast, but not like her. It was helpful for him.
I was going to order a smaller one for her, but decided to try this one out with her first. She did well with it. In fact, it was comical. She ate from the middle and then started working her whole body around it while eating around the sides. The bowl started going in circles and so did she.
I will probably order a smaller one and have my larger dog use this one. That way I can reclaim my casserole dish.
The only negatives: 1. product description does not claim "for 60 to 90 lbs dogs" 2. black rubber strip on bottom has to be treated lightly or it will come off, leaving sticky residue 3. not crazy about plastic bowls, ceramic would have been nice (would also cost more in ceramic)
