Great concept, not really stable or sturdy. Sep 07, 2011

Let me preface that I've grown up in the industry of DME/HME (Durable Medical Equipment & Home Medical Equipment) and now that I work in the industry full time as a retailer I've learned a lot about equipment. First off, this brand in general makes products that are great in concept but mediocre at best in their quality. I ordered this cane to evaluate and still have the same opinion. I was impressed with the range of height adjustment available, but there's no way to "double-lock" this cane once you set the height. Most canes made by reputable brands offer a height adjustment pin (like this one has) plus a "silencer" of some sort which helps ensure the cane stays at the height you set. The base also doesn't stay lined up with the handle, so the bottom portion of this cane assembly can twist to any direction without intention. As a personal and professional recommendation, I'd recommend a traditional quad cane, the Able TriPod base tip attachment for single tip canes, any enlarged base support for canes by Drive Medical or Rose Medical, or visit a local, reputable medical supplier who knows what they're talking about. I cannot stress this last part enough. Here in Houston, TX, medical supply stores pop up and close down faster than seasons change. When it comes to safety and/or mobility, I'd always recommend that if you're not very knowledgeable on these types of products, take the advice of healthcare professionals with a grain of salt and visit someone who knows their stuff.
