Terrible - lowest rating. Jul 29, 2007
By V. Behan My wife bought me one of these in an attempt to help me hear the TV better. All it did was make a loud whooshing background noise through the earbuds - no noticable amplification. Also, the TV sound had an echo as if I was inside a huge metal drum, but no louder than my normal hearing. My thoughtful wife is taking it back for a refund.

Horrible! Jun 14, 2007

If I could rate it 0 stars I would. I bought this for my wife who has trouble hearing the TV. Or rather, I have trouble when she turns it up loud enough to hear.
We tried the device out - the sound was horrible and didn't amplify it at all. I just threw it away because it was so inexpensive, and returning to the store would have been a big hassle.

Is "As seen on TV" a warning label? Nov 28, 2007

Why do I have to give this a star, when it deserves frownie faces?
Imagine, if you will, this product, sitting on the wide arm of a couch. I turn it on and can only hear a ceiling fan. I crank the volume to 6 (there is no 11, much less a 7-10). I have no trouble hearing the computer fan in the other room and the low hum multiple of receivers in the living room. I can even hear the Rotties half a mile down the road gearing up for their nightly bark-fest. Meanwhile, in the far far BACKGROUND I can hear the TV.
Then I'm startled by a very loud "thud" followed by slightly softer thuds, and an odd breathing noise. It's my 4 pound cat, who just jumped to the arm of the couch, walked along the edge and sat on unit. Now I get to listen as her fur rubs against the unit.
I wish I could refund the damn thing. You can hit a dollar store for the ear buds it came with and buy a few boxes of earplugs or cotton balls for the person who needs it not as loud.

Great concept, poor execution Jan 07, 2008
By Kay's Momma We bought this thinking that it would help my husband's father not have to turn up the television so loud to where it bothers other people. It really does amplify the sound, but not the sounds that you want. For example, if there are children playing in the room, it picks up them more than the television. When you turn up the volume, there is an annoying noise and hurts your ears. You have to turn the television up to a somewhat normal level before you can hear it in the Listen Up and by then, it starts to bother other people in the room. It's sad because it is a good concept but very poor execution of the final product.

Horrible, absolutely horrible Sep 10, 2007

I bought it because I didn't want to disturb my roommate with the tv, since I'm up later than she is. I had remembered seeing this on tv, and thought I'd give it a whirl. This product was really bad. I kept hearing bumps that I'd make, the pop that occurs when you turn the darn thing on is really loud. Not to mention that it just wasn't picking up the tv audio at all. The only thing I kept hearing was the ac unit in the dorm.
It makes me wish that I had looked at reviews before I bought it. If I had, I would not have bought it at all. I'm returning it tomorrow and hopefully I get the full refund for it.
