4Great color match if you are patient  Dec 10, 2010 By Tim Dietz
I ordered this product to repair some cat claw damage to an ivory leather chair arm - the cats liked to be on the arm while we sat in the chair, but then jumped off and their back claws damaged the leather in several places before we quit letting them be on this piece.

The ivory color was not too hard to recreate, but it took many tests on an inconspicuous spot on the bottom of the ottoman to get the color exactly right. I used the included color matching table and started with a small amount of white, added a TINY amount of yellow (not even a drop), then had to re-add several drops of white (the yellow is EXTREMELY vibrant and overpowers the white easily). With a final small amount of brown - again, not even a whole drop - I got an exact match and applied it to the arm of the chair with the included small flat plastic applicator. I didn't mix up enough to need the sponge-tipped tube applicator, so cannot comment on that part of the kit.

The only way you can tell a repair has been done is to look in very bright light at an angle. The color is exactly the same, but the reflectivity of the repaired areas is a bit duller than the original leather. I can probably use a leather conditioning product on the entire area to fix this, but haven't done so because the chair is not where the lighting will ever be bright enough to have this be an issue.

I think this is an extremely cost-effective product which, though it takes some time to get the color right, can certainly be used to do minor repairs such as cat damage. I don't know how it would handle larger damage.

4Patience required  Jan 14, 2010 By Cmo
You have to be patient to get the right color match. I used a sponge brush and am quite pleased with the result. It is quite easy to use; and several applications is needed to get the color to blend. It works well for me,and would recommend this product.

5Totally renewed my couch's appearance!  Feb 26, 2010 By Heather Lingle
I should start by saying that I only used the dye - I have not tried the repair substance because I haven't needed it. But the die was easy to mix since everything you need is included and the instructions are very clear. Pouring the mixture into the applicator was easy, and the applicator itself was ideal for covering up discolorations on my couch. There were several spots that had turned almost bright orange from wear on an otherwise dark brown couch. I made 2 applications on most of the spots, and 3 on the really bad ones. It dried pretty quickly between applications and the finished result was beautiful! The only thing that I'm not fully satisfied about is that the sheen of the dye is shinier than my leather, so if the light is shining on it just right, you can see some of the spots that I fixed. Not sure what can be done about that, but I'm going to try using some leather conditioner and lightly buffing those areas to dull the sheen.

3works pretty good  Jun 25, 2010 By B. Staton "Gran D"
A little messy when mixing, but I managed to get a blue that wasn't noticable to cover cat scratches. Shipping was fast. The 'pen' was actually a sponge dauber. Really messy so I used a fine liner paint brush.

5This product worked great for my problem!  Oct 15, 2011 By Ileana Vila
This product worked extremely well for me. I have a beige leather couch. It is only 2 years old and is used in a vacation home used by the whole family. This year, someone mistakenly got some ball point pen marks on the arm of the couch as well as on one of the seat areas. It was very visible and I tried to clean it with one of those white magic sponges. Well, this did not work and actually rubbed some color off (this was not an expensive leather couch!). I decided to order this product and finally got around to trying it today. WOW is all I can say. I took my time as one of the reviewers suggested. The instructions said to use the white, brown, and yellow color vials to create beige...I was able to get it almost exactly right after mixing and adjusting the color about four times (adding a little more brown...then adding some yellow to brighten etc..).
I mixed the colors inside the provided hollow 'pen'. This pen comes with an insertable roller top with a soft pad.
Instead of using the pen's roller top I used my finger to dab the color directly over the ink marks and area where I had rubbed the original color off. I was able to then adjust the color as I observed whether the color mixture that I was applying appeared too light (I then added more brown to the white base in my case), or needing more brightness (such as by adding more yellow in my case). I would then just reapply the next adjusted level of color right to the same spot that I was working on to recolor. This simple process worked for me though the instructions never recommended using your fingers (just FYI).
Now, you can't tell where the ink stains were and the areas where I had accidentally removed the original beige color were restored. The original problem was very obvious prior to applying this prodcut and now you have to be 'looking' for where I covered the ink marks. I am very pleased.

The product brings 7 individual colors vials and a huge description of what combination of colors to select to obtain a huge range of hues. It is up to you to determine what quantities to use of each vial to get to the correct color for your needs.
The product also brings grain texture papers, and a vinyl adhesive to repair more serious issues...I can't attest to how a more serious repair (such as a tear) would work since my issue was stain related.
