| | Description | Strengthen your back, biceps, and other upper body muscles in the comfort of your living room or dorm with the Iron Gym workout bar. Designed to fit conveniently in most doorway frames or sit on the floor for pushups, dips, and sit-ups, the Iron Gym is an ideal choice for people who want to get fit without buying expensive, space-intensive weight sets. When installed in the doorway, the device lets you perform pull-ups and chin-ups, with three grip positions--narrow, neutral, and wide--for working the inner and outer back. Once you're done with your back workout, you can quickly move the Iron Gym to the floor, where you can perform pushups while facing down, tricep dips while facing the other way, or sit-ups using the Iron Gym for foot stability.
The Iron Gym--whose durable steel frame installs quickly without tools or fasteners--holds up to 300 pounds and is designed to fit residential doorways 24 to 32 inches wide, with doorway trim or molding up to 3.5 inches wide. | |

Shoddy construction techniques Sep 08, 2010 When I first tried to assemble this thing, I found that the longer bar, which is composed of two interlocking pieces, didn't interlock properly, so the through holes which connect to the rest of the assembly were offset by something like 30 degrees, way too far to be able to put it together. It turned out you just needed to twist it further, but the way they built it made it almost impossible without crazy strength. Thankfully I was able to use a dremmel tool to shave off some of the metal and get it to interlock, but it was still a little crooked.
Hanging on the doorframe it works as advertised, and I'm fairly happy with it, but you should not have to use a dremmel tool to put the thing together.
Warning to fellow morons: Measure your doors first. Sep 06, 2010 The bar is easily assembled and fairly solid. At least I think so, since it doesn't fit my door. D'OH! Works great as a push-up device, though.
Too good to be true Sep 01, 2010 When I first saw it, I doubted it would handle what I wanted to do with it. Oh boy, this thing handles anything u want to do with it, and it's very easy to put together. Cheap and works wonders. 5 stars
Good product but might not fit over your mouldings Aug 30, 2010 This seems like a well-made product, easy to put together and I've seen it in other people's houses and they like it. I was very disappointed to find that it would not fit over the wide mouldings on any of the doorways in our 1920s Craftsman house. It will only work over doorways where the mouldings aren't very wide--I'd say less than about 3 inches.
3 workouts all-in-one device Aug 27, 2010 The Iron Gym has been very handy since I purchased it. I have a very tight work schedule. This bar allows me to make the most out of a simple doorframe! The pull-ups, while difficult at first, are very effective. I've also been able to do tricep dips and ab crunches.
Unlike other complaints, I found it very easy to assemble and love that it doesn't take up much space under my desk or closet.
