| | Description | The Hercules Hook is the easiest way to hang pictures, mirrors, shelves just about anything. Easy to install just twist, push and turn! No more drilling or pounding to try to find a stud - No more damaged walls! The reinforced steel design provides the muscle to hang and hold up to 150 lbs. Great for plaster, drywall or paneling.
Twist, Push, Turn. Pick a point on the wall where you want the bottom of the hook to sit. Then, measure ¼" directly above that point and set the tip there.Next, with firm forward pressure, twist the hook back and forth (like a key) until you have chiseled through the wall. Now turn the hook upward and push completely into the wall until only the hook is exposed. | |

Difficult to remove from wall but does good job Jul 25, 2010 It's fairly easy to get the hook in the wall... just a huge pain trying to remove the hook from the wall. I ended up just hammering it to forced it to stay in the wall permanently because I couldn't remove it for some reason. And from the twisting it made about the same size hole a nail or screw would have made. Overall it's a fair product, strength wise it's excellent, holds some pretty heavy art... but know how thick your walls are, I guess maybe mine are too thick for this product.

Some Tips for Usage Jun 11, 2010 I used a very similar item and both the negative and positive reviews have truth to them. Here's my 2 cents worth.
Drill a tiny pilot hole. I think you could hammer in a small nail for a starter hole. Even with a hole drilled it took some effort for me to work the wire through.
If you use a twisting motion to work the wire in, it's important to keep the wire straight (horizontal) or else it WILL make an enlarged hole from spinning around at an angle. Even with care, the hole is definitely bigger than the pinhole I was imagining, but way smaller than a hole from an anchor.
I needed to grip the wire with pliers for the final push in. It's important to get that bend in the wire right up against the wall and I couldn't do that with my bare hands.
You need empty space behind the drywall but this thing does not have to spin a full 360.º You need empty space behind and above the point of insertion. The wire will slide in along its curve but it takes a little care and effort. Once you do it you'll get a feel for it. You could even practice on an old piece of drywall or heavy cardboard.
I used these on standard drywall, not sure if it's half inch or five eighths.
These work in the particular situations where they work. If there's nothing behind your drywall, a nail is not going to work unless you're hanging a piece of paper. And if there's a stud behind your drywall, go with that--a stud trumps all.
I used these to hang two shower caddies at the back of the tub, just above the tub surround. They are holding up great with lots of bottles of shampoo, etc. weighing them down and being lifted in and out. I was not sure if they are designed to hold something that gets used, as opposed to a picture just quietly hanging there.
Work great on interior walls Mar 31, 2010 These work great and are not too difficult to install. It takes some force to punch it through the sheetrock but is easy to get set up once that is done. They don't work as well on outer walls where insulation gets in the way so be aware of this.
No holes, just holds! Mar 05, 2010 A friend introduced me to this product. I absolutely love it. It is so economical and easy to use. I can hang all of my pctures, plaques, wall hangings easily and effortly. I have all size and wieghts of items, and none have fallen, nor have any large holes been made into my walls.
amazing hooks Mar 03, 2010 I liked this product for all of my heavy frames and pictures. So easy I could do it myself with little effort.
