It's Amazing! Feb 17, 2008
By Tony I know what you think. You think the Buttoneer is a piece of junk. That's what I thought too until I bought one. This device really does work. It isn't made of high-quailty materials, but it does get the job done. Using the Buttoneer is so much easier than threading a needle and sewing on a new button. Thread eventually unravels, but the plastic fasteners remain secure if you attach them correctly. I doubt you will ever lose the same button again if you attach it with this device. The Buttoneer is similar to a stapler. The difference is that the Buttoneer uses plastic fasteners instead of metal staples to hold a button in place. I do recommend that you purchase this refill pack with the Buttoneer. You do get quite a few of the plastic fasteners with the Buttoneer, but it's easy to make mistakes when you are trying to attach a button. You will end up having to throw away many of the plastic fasteners.

Good as far as it goes, not far! Feb 09, 2008

It sometimes works. There are two problems with it. The plastic fasteners are much flimsier than the ones used to attach tags in stores. The refills seem to be worse than the included staples. The second problem is the use of "original" in the product name. I had one of the originals and the quality was much better. The staples were sturdier and it was able to do all kinds of buttons. This one does not work on buttons with a metal loop instead of eye holes, nor on anything but the thinnest fabric. It is not so handy for quick repair, as I used 4 staples to get one button on. It should have minus stars.

Don't buy it! Sep 14, 2008

I owned the original Buttoneer years ago and thought this was the same thing. It is not! It is a pure waste of money. The original had single studs on a strip that fed into the machine and it was very easy to use and very sturdy. This new one you must put the double studs in one at a time, very time consuming. And the worst part is that they are so flimsey they will not hold the button on if there is any pull at all. WOW, am I sorry I bought it!!

Absolute WORST QUALITY! Feb 02, 2011
By Nicerobot I've used the Buttoneer for years and I am shocked at what has happened to the quality of the fasteners since Avery/Dennison took over the manufacturing. The plastic is extremely poor quality and many of the fasteners are deformed or bent right out of the package. The plastic is now a soft translucent type as well and it takes at least 3-4 tries before you get one that goes all the way through even the thinnest of fabric without breaking during insertion. Do not buy this unless you enjoy wasting money. I'm finished with buttoneer...

Give me back my original buttoneer! Feb 27, 2009

I've had this "original" buttoneer for several years so I have experience using it. You don't need experience. It is the worst tool I've ever used. I keep trying different sized staples but to no avail. I don't know why I hold on to it. It's easier for me to sew buttons on when I need it.
