Great if you have skinny toothbrushes Apr 04, 2009
By xiolablue I was so excited to get my toothbrush sanitizer and then I realize that my regular toothbrush doesn't fit! So now i am stuck using the toothbrushes that THEY provided. My question is, when it's time for me to buy another toothbrush am I to go around look for skinny ones that will fit. If I could return it I would.
Update: had this product for a bit over 2 months and had to change the batteries several times already. The problem now is the UV lights are so dim I wonder if it is even sanitizing anymore. This doesn't even deserve the 2 stars I initially gave it.

Peace of mind! Apr 09, 2010
By Amber I'm one of those people who tends to stay sick for some reason or another...and changing out my toothbrush every time was becoming much more expensive than this little gadget so I decided to give it a shot. I can't say that the device actually works, as I've not analyzed the toothbrush under a microscope, but it certainly makes me feel better to think that the happy, blue light is doing something. If you're in the market for a toothbrush sanitizer, I highly recommend Violight Duo after owning it.
The case mounts on a wall with a generic sticky foam mount so doesn't take up precious counter space. The holder can also slide off of its mounted location in your bathroom so you can travel with it. The case hangs upright, you don't have to worry about your toothbrush sitting in a pool of mildew-ridden water (isn't that counteractive of having a clean toothbrush?). The cleaning cycle lasts for less than 10 minutes and begins automatically when you close the case. Your toothbrush is stored in a closed area with a vent at the bottom, therefore minimizing exposure to floating bacteria and germs in your bathroom without risking molding from being entirely closed in.
If you want to move the sanitizer after it's mounted on your wall, that could prove problematic, so think carefully about where you want it placed first. As another reviewer noted, some toothbrushes with larger handles don't fit. I didn't like the generic toothbrush it came with (it has super soft bristles), but didn't have much trouble finding a toothbrush better suited to my needs -- I really found that only one brand of "non-skinny" toothbrush didn't fit and then it was barely so. Obviously electric toothbrushes wouldn't fit in this case, but it's possible the heads would if they're removable.
I've had this gadget for a few months now and haven't had any problems with battery life or anything else. I'm extremely pleased with it, if all else for the peace of mind that comes along. ...and my boyfriend and I haven't been swapping colds back and forth, so I'm hoping it actually does something!
Makes me feel better... Jan 23, 2012
By Kim Petrosky Bought this after two weeks of a HORRIBLE sore throat which kept coming back (mimicked strep, but no one knows what it was-- not a bacteria, responded only temporarily to antibiotics, doctor suspects it was a persistent virus, but couldn't pinpoint it.) I had changed my toothbrush, but figured that if I was still sick, I was probably just re-depositing the stubborn germs (or whatever they were) on my toothbrush each time I brushed.
This thing... well, I can't prove that it helped me get better, but I don't think it hurt. I made sure to put my toothbrush in it each time I used it, and after that the doctor was able to 'cure' me with a course of steroids. I've also noticed that I haven't gotten a cold/the flu this winter, which is kind of unusual for me (although I DID have the mystery illness, but that was before we bought this.)
If nothing else, it looks cool (especially in the dark!) and makes me feel like I'm doing something to stay healthy. Also, our toothbrushes don't have a funky mouth smell to them anymore, so there's that. I also like that it comes off of the wall mount and can be taken on vacation, etc.
Others have mentioned trouble with toothbrushes fitting, but we used regular Colgate toothbrushes (or other WalMart toothbrushes) and have no problem at all. Our brushes are actually a little bigger than the ones it came with-- the grippy things flex to accommodate a wide range of sizes.
We've gone through one set of batteries already since I bought it, but I don't think that's all that bad, considering that it gets used at least twice a day, if not more often.

Great for a couple. Looks like its doing something Jan 24, 2009
By Abacus I had a very bad cold for three weeks and my husband did not get it. So I don't know if he would have gotten it from my toothbrush hanging next to mine or not. But it made me feel better.
