High Pressure sodium wall light Jun 25, 2010

Have two of these lamps that illuminate the side of our home to deter intruders and enable us to walk around safely at night. We've had to replace one bulb in 7 years and we're on the first bulb in the other one. They have the dusk/dawn feature and are absolutely reliable and extremely cheap to run. Can't say enough good about them. The yellowish light does an excellent job of illuminating back and side yards without unwanted glare. 5 thumbs up!

Great Light Dec 04, 2010
By Randy Brusse Not much else to say other then this is a great light. I really love the yellowish light it gives off, not glaring like the white lights do. Will last a long time. One problem is the bugs get in big time and you'll have to pull the cover off once a year to clean them out. I found a solution by cutting a piece of window screen and pushing it into a dime size hole in the bottom of the fixture. The cover can be hard to put back on just take your time.

H P sodium light Jan 24, 2012
By green Lights of America #9050 50 watt HP sodium light. We have 4 #9050 units in front of our church building; I'm starting to replace older units from 1975. I got two in this order. One installed and worked about 2 weeks, now it won't work. Replaced bulb with a new one, had power at the eye and in the socket, but the light wouldn't work. I'm sending back the one unit for a refund. Amazon is trying to work with me.

first impressions = good Jan 22, 2012

Can't comment on the longevity of the light but my first impressions are pretty positive. The housing for the light is plastic but overall seems well designed. I wouldn't recommend using the light in a area where it would be subjected to harsh weather but under an eve or on a porch would be fine. The photocell seems to be well placed on the front and even though it isn't adjustable it reliably kicks on at dusk and off at dawn. The 50w light does a decent job providing a soft yellow security light for our driveway and front of the house. Previously we had a 70w metal halide and it was wayyy too bright for what we needed. This seems to be a happy medium. I did notice that, like other reviewers noted, that the bulb did have a number of fingerprints on it so be sure to clean it before turning the light on.

They're ok Dec 13, 2011
By Paula Lights seem to be ok. I ordered 10 and when they arrived I installed 8 of them. 2 of them didn't work. I installed the other 2 and they worked. The other 2 I installed they had scratches all over the outside of the base. It looks like maybe somebody else returned them and they fixed them and sent them back out. I don't know if this is true but this is what it looks like to me. They all are working just fine. I gave them a 3 because when you buy something new they should work. 20% of an order not working is not good quality control in my opinion. I give 5 stars to Amazon for the great customer service I received when I called to return them. They seem to be ok and I will be ordering another 10.
