1Don't waste your money  Nov 14, 2007 By Sam Sinha "Sam"
I bought this item directly from the Vidalia website. I was excited about owning a device which could slice, julienne and even chop! Well, it cannot do any of the above. Even if by some miracle you can get it to work, you will end up mangling more than half of the piece of vegetable you are trying to process. It was a total waste of my money. They make it look so easy on TV...do not be deceived.

3I give this a thumbs up and a thumbs down  Sep 11, 2009 By M. P.
I won this item off of Ebay for about $10 and you can say I did get my monies worth. A few weeks ago I had cut 9 hard potatoes by hand and my hand went numb and tingly and it scared me half to death because it took over a hour for my feeling to come back. I searched for potato cutters and saw this on the 'Try It Before You Buy It' segments on several news station websites. Real people used this and gave it high marks so I decided to get it. Unfortunately I couldn't find this anywhere so I was desperate and ended up buying a Veg-O-Matic until I could find the slicer. The Veg-O-Matic was wonderful!! I was able to cut about 9 potatoes into fries in under 5 minutes!!! I figure if this could do what it did then the slicer should be even better.

The pros about the Vidalia Slicer: It gives your potatoes even cuts. If you run hot water over it immediately after you cut a potato then the clean ups a cinch.

The cons: You have to figure out how to put in on the protector. Once you do it doesn't stay secure. It doesn't cut all the way to the end. The end of the potato gets jammed in the blade and you have to try to figure out how to get the potato unjammed w/o slicing off a few limbs. When you figure out how to get the remaining uncut potato off the blade you have to cut the rest with a regular knife. Once the potato is cut you have to physically pull them apart because it's like cutting a potato along a dotted line and having to pull them apart.

This is all of the things I went through after using the slicer twice. Even though it cuts my potatoes in record time I have to do extra things in order to get cut potatoes and that's the part where it displeases me. I'm going to keep this because I love french fries and will refuse to cut anymore potatoes by hand. I haven't tried it on any other vegetable but I believe it will give me the same results as the potato.

5Vidalia Slice Wizard  May 09, 2008 By Careful Buyer
Bravo!...I've tried and researched all the other slicers on the market, both reasonably priced to the expensive top-of-the-lines, and have to say that this one easily and efficiently does it all. Uncomplicated, easy to store, very quick to assemble and change the 3 variable thickness blades, (haven't tried the julienne blades yet), solidly constructed, and safe to use. (I especially like the safety storage insert.) Who needs to spend a fortune for those big clumsy ones that take up way too much room and are totally over-engineered and unnecessary.

5Making my life just a little bit easier!!  Jan 16, 2008 By Kimiko
This is a wonderful product. It has made cooking so much easier and faster for me. It glides easily and holds the veggie that you are slicing well. You're fingers do not come in contact with the blade at all (saw a review on the internet where someone said they sliced their fingers?? Not sure how that happened). I highly recommend this!

2I didn't like it  Jul 16, 2010 By M. Taylor "Myrna"
I had one of these for a short time. It didn't take long for the little gadget with the "teeth" for holding the food to get sliced right off! You have to be pretty dexterous to work with this slicer. My rheumatoid arthritis made it impossible for me!
