5Fool proof  Jan 13, 2009 By R. Hicks "MissOsMommy"
My 4 year old daughter asked for a Chia from Santa and we thought she would love this one of Donkey and we were not mistaken. You have to soak the head and seeds for 24-48 hours before applying the seeds to the head, so this really tested the 4 year old's patience. Once the seeds were applied, we only had to wait 3-4 days before they grew enough to start looking like hair.

After a week of daily watering, the Chia achieved a full grown head of hair. My daughter loves watering her Chia every day. I don't know how long these things last, but there are enough seeds in the packet to start over at least 2 more times.

4Very cute  Feb 16, 2012 By Eulon
I really like the concept of Chia Donkey. It's a cute little pot. There were plenty of seeds in the package and they sprouted quite quickly.

I do have a couple of small issues with this which is why I gave this 4 stars instead of 5. The placement of the hole for watering was back a little farther on the head than I would like. Because of this, the sprouts will not go on the top of Donkeys head like they appear in the picture. They will go up to the top of the back but not actually crest over and give him a "normal" hairline. He looks a little bit like he has a touch of male pattern baldness.

The second issue is that the terra cotta leaks water quite quickly so make sure you have something under it, otherwise you'll have a constant flood on whatever surface you set this on. The problem with the leaking is that you have to refill this 2-3 times a day to keep it full. If it is not kept full, the seeds dry out at the top and you won't have a full "head" of hair, furthering Donkey's receding hairline.

Otherwise, it's a cute concept and fun for kids.
