 WORKS GREAT, But you MUST READ BEFORE BUYING Apr 18, 2010
First off I did NOT get the drill . . . I already own a Ryobi 18V and used that along with the Awesome Auger. I live on the side of a Ridge in TN . . . Meaning TONS of clay and rocks (dead serious about BOTH) I chose to get the TWO augers (and pay the extra postage to get the extender . . . It ONLY comes if you get the extra auger!!!!!!) I have a bad back and The Claw that I have was killing my back . . . So, I thought this would be a step up and it was. After 2 solid years of working the soil (ie. Rocks and clay with very little soil) they both did break . . . But they do have a Lifetime warrenty . . . I do have to send them back and pay $8.95 for a processing fee (this company seems to make it's money on processng fees!!!) (That's why I refused to get the drill . . . Just for the processing & shipping fees . . . Just TOO MUCH FOR WHAT ONE WAS GETTING!)
I have tried many things to work on the ground around my house . . . The Claw and also a rototiller . . . NOTHING WORKED until I got the Awesome Auger . . . Now I do agree it could be welded a bit better . . . BUT IT WORKS!!!! Nothing else breaks up the clay & rocks I have . . . My house has been her 70 years and the yard has NOT been worked on until I moved here! Compact would be a perfect way of describing my yard!! Rocks . . . Are beyond abundant (Now I know why they used rocks to created my basement walls . . . They were the most abundant item around! Seriously . . . Nothing worked, The Claw is hard on ones back (mine is so messed up it is hard for me to use The Claw) and the rototiller just dinged & hopped around because of the abundant rocks (it could never dig in also because of the clay) but the awesome auger was the only thing that worked. I do wish it was made better . . . But to last 2 years through all the rocks & clay that I do have is a miracle . . . But like I said it does have a Lifetime Warrenty!

The auger received via Amazon did not have the extension piece that is advertised on TV. However, I was uncomfortable ordering from a TV related website as a number of the sites had negative comments. Regardless, the auger works well.

While I see all the points of the previous 1 star reviews the product actually does work pretty well.
Pros: It did dig up some pretty hard pack dirt and clay. It is small engough to work around rocks and other obstacles that my 8" 2 man power auger could not. It is larger than most other augers. You get 2 sizes for the price of one.
Cons: Extension is definetly not long enough. It broke.
When it worked I would say it was 3 stars. I am returning it because it broke, but if it ever comes down under $20 I would pickup another.

I don't understand the bad ratings and all the negativity towards this amazing product. This product is great, a must-have. I have absolutely no complaints about it. Usually when it came to yardwork I sat on the couch and ignored it. I wanted no part of it. At least, until I ordered this product. This product changed my life. Before I ordered it I would plant no flowers and leave my yard barren and weedfilled. Of course, every once in a while I would hire some hobo or bum to do my yardwork for a sack of nickels while I sat on my couch with a bag of chips supervising him. Of course that never worked out so well. Those homeless men are desperate. (Not to mention they aren't very good at manual labor) They stole anything in sight as soon as I took my eyes off them. Once I even caught some bum stealing my dandelions. So one day during my regular 12 hour tv period accompanied by a 2 gallon tub of ice cream I saw the great Billy Mays advertising this product. Billy is a great, honest guy who will only endorse superior, excellent products. This Auger is no exception. I thought hey, this product could change my life. Sure enough, it did. My yard is now the talk of the town and everyone asks how I plant so many flowers in such a short period of time. The answer is simple: cheap hobo labor. You see, dozens of hobos don't want to start a fight. They can't all steal the one auger. I then pay them in tin cans and pennies. I am a genius. But i couldn't have done it without a little help from my friend the awesome auger!
