High failure rate, low light output Jul 26, 2010
By J. C. Roberts I've bought four of these bulbs (on four separate occasions), and all four bulbs have now failed. Three failed in well under a year after purchase, the other within two years. The light intensity from the bulbs is much lower than a 40W incandescent, making these bulbs only really suitable for "always on" areas or places that require only enough illumination to avoid hazards. They might save money for always-on fixtures, but only if (1) they last at least a year and (2) you don't need extra bulbs in the same space to compensate for the low light output. As much as I hoped for an inexpensive AND acceptable-quality LED bulb, this product is not it.
100% burn out less than 6 months May 13, 2011

All 4 of the LoA LED bulbs I bought burned out in 6 months or less. If you use this bulb 3 hours a day it is supposed to last 10,000 days which is 27 years, is this false advertising if they only last 6 months or less? I have seen this report over and over in almost every review on this model 2026LED bulb that they burn out fast and are dim. Do not buy this bulb, or any LED from Lights of America.
I tried to take the bulb back to Walmart were I got it and Walmart would not help me to my satisfaction. They told me to go back to the manufacturer. I don't have the receipt, but I do have the original packaging. I should have taped the receipt to the packaging. If you buy this Lights of America bulb (which you should not) keep all packaging and receipts. Since I don't have the receipt, LoA will give me a new bulb if I mail it back to them at my own expense, but why would I spend another $5 shipping this back if it only lasts 6 months?
Odd Greenish color, not 40watt Dec 19, 2009

I only gave it a 3 star over a 2 star since I want to incourage LED lighting.
But why are they allowed to lie? This is nowhere near 40 watts.
But if you have your expectations set right (and I did), it can be very useful in certain areas. It was bright enough to create a shadow and was 3x brighter than the westinghouse 3 watt LED bulb. But the light has a funky greenish hue. And this is the "warm version". I got the other version at first and it was straight up blue.
So if you want this for an always on area, it is a great low power option. I'm not sure if it is rated for outdoors, but as a sidelight for a nighttime pathway, it can work.
Also note that all LEDs are very directional, as in STRAIGHT. So don't use this in an area that will have a dome over it, or if you expect it to give you light on the side.
40W is really 25W replacement bulb if it's Lights of America LED Aug 05, 2009

40W is really 25W replacement bulb if it's Lights of America LED. Not adequate for reading under but good for an "always on area" or corridor in your home.
Poor Quality Mar 29, 2009
By Robert J. Lange Jr. Bought seven different styles of LED bulbs made by this company. Only 2 are still working after 2 months. Pure garbage!
